Duncan Painter, a top executive at Omnicom, is leaving the company. Christine Gambino, previously chief operating officer for Omnicom’s global platforms business, Omni, will take over as CEO.
Flywheel CEO Alex McCord will oversee Omnicom Commerce, a business unit that previously reported to Painter.
Painter joined Omnicom in 2023 after the company’s acquisition of Flywheel from Ascential for $835 million, which he negotiated as CEO of the latter company. After Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG closed in December, Painter was appointed to lead the company’s combined commerce capabilities.
In a statement, Omnicom said that Painter is leaving for an opportunity in the U.K.
